First Aid Training – Getting it Right

 

Employers have both moral and legal obligations to provide their staff with first aid training and on 1 October 2009, the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) implemented new rules for employers on first aid at work.

 

Changes that Followed:

The way employers must carry out a First Aid Needs Assessment (employers must do this by law*)

Two types of First Aider:

First Aider at Work – 3 day course - Click for details

Recommendation that all First Aiders attend annual refresher training

 

* The approved code of practice for First Aid at Work regulations states "an employer should make an assessment of first aid needs appropriate to the circumstances of each work place".
